Submitting a Patch

We strongly encourage contributions to the source code as they help to improve BlazeDS. If you have a bug fix or enhancement that you would like to contribute, please follow the steps below.

  1. Sign and submit the Contributor Agreement.
  2. Contributions are to be submitted to the BlazeDS JIRA bug database. Once we have approved your Contributor agreement we will add your bug database account to a group which will allow you to submit patches.
  3. Create the patch. If using TortoiseSVN on Windows, for example, right click on the repository, choose TortoiseSVN, then choose Create Patch. Save the file. (Please refer to the note below on patch contributions.)
  4. In the BlazeDS bug database, find and view the bug for which you have developed the patch.
  5. If the legal work is done and we have added you to the group which allows patches, you will see the "Submit patch" link among the Operations links on the left. Click on it.
  6. Fill in the fields and attach the patch file you created above.
  7. Click the Create button. At this point, the patch will enter Adobe's process for review. If approved, it will be integrated by a committer.

NOTE for patch contributions:
The BlazeDS engineering team would really appreciate if you could help make the committers job easier by providing the following when submitting your patches. The items mentioned below are not required, but they will definitely help to speed up the review process.

  • a description of the issue that your patch contribution is trying to solve
  • changes to the existing files in the form of a diff (svn diff)
  • any unit tests for the contributed code
  • updates to existing documentation for any new or modified behavior

Thank you in advance for your contributions.
